When did you decide that you wanted to be an architect?<\/b><\/p>\n

When I realized that my LEGO budget had exceeded my school lunch budget.<\/p>\n

First architecture\/design job:<\/b><\/p>\n

The tree fort that was built in my best friend\u2019s backyard.<\/p>\n

Design hero and\/or favorite building (and why):<\/b><\/p>\n

Design hero: Felix Candela for creating the means to do what he designed long before the tools were at hand. Favorite project: J Mayer H\u2019s Metropol Parasol<\/a> in Sevilla for creating a new typology that intersects and enhances its surroundings.<\/p>\n

What do you find exciting about architecture and design right now?<\/b><\/p>\n

That architects are being asked to design power stations and resiliency infrastructure. Architects should expand the role we are to play in society.<\/p>\n

Tell us something that people might not know about your A+Award submission:<\/b><\/p>\n

That the Dryline is the lovechild of Robert Moses big infrastructure thinking married with Jane Jacob\u2019s local neighborhood social sensitivity.<\/p>\n

Which jurors do you find most compelling and why?<\/b><\/p>\n

Craig Dykers of Sn\u00f8hetta, due to him being just an all-around great \u201cmensch,\u201d and Olafur Eliasson for awakening our senses.<\/p>\n

Among your fellow A+Award winners, what is\/are your favorite(s)?<\/b><\/p>\n

Thomas Heatherwick\u2019s Bombay Sapphire Distillery<\/a> \u2014 he is one of the most inventive architects today and it has been a pleasure working with him on the Google HQ<\/a> \u2014 and, in our native Copenhagen, the Cyckelslangen<\/a> by Dissing+Weitling Architects<\/a>, as it brings back fun to urban infrastructure.<\/p>\n
